How about inventing something to cure the sheer frustration of not being able to do some things? The body not being able to keep up with the brain.Looking at something you want to do and bursting into tears of frustration because you can`t do it and don`t want to bother anyone else to do it.Doing up buttons, hooks and laces(and no I don`t want to wear those awful velcro do up ones!)Opening items that are vacuum packed in plastic that seems to be welded to the backing card.Getting to the back of the fridge, cleaning behind the toilet, corners, stairs etc;changing the bed linen, opening `child`(and me!) proof`containers(I have to get a child to open mine!)Not being able to stand for long and then not being able to sit for long.Taking washing out of the machine.having to go slowly up and down stairs and steps. All minor things compared to the annoyance of not being able to do them.

All basic domestic chores seem to have gotten significantly more difficult to do as my body can't bend as much, doing repeated motions like sweeping and vacuuming and mopping aggravates my hip joints to the point I have to take a pain killer and lie down a bit. Anything that entails bending like scrubbing the bathtub (that glass door makes it all the more difficult), cleaning the oven. Getting the cobwebs off the ceiling. Having to make 3 or more trips up and down the stairs to take out the trash and recycling.

Opening anything in plastic packaging, ie. cheese, chips.
Cans with pull back tabs, ie. soup, meat.
Opening plastic 2 liter bottles, milk jug, and jars.

I bought my friend a jar opener at Wal-Mart last year but they don't carry the item this year. I believe it was battery operated. I keep scissors in the kitchen to open plastic packaging.

I am 65 and can still do most things without difficulty. I have a friend with arthritis in her hands and she finds it difficult turning her house key when unlocking the front door.

I'm not sure what you mean by 'elderly'. I have great difficulty finding my vacuum cleaner.
I can cope with my computer and my temperamental printer. I've tamed my mobile phone, the washing machine and dishwasher know better than to argue with me, but I have difficulties with the vacuum cleaner and the duster. They just don't speak my language!
I'm 64.
