Lunatic cleared of dangerous driving when he hit a pensioner head on at 94mph on the wrong side of the road?
He was, of course a traffic officer, Shaun Schofield, on a ‘training exercise’ with Lancashire Police. He was let off with a 6 month ban and charged with careless driving. The two pensioners were killed instantly.
If a member of the general public did this he would be jailed for 6 – 7 years. Why was the officer let off and why did he keep his job? Also why was he never taken to task by his force?
Are Lancashire Police trying a cover-up?
Sounds like it, loon.
File this one along with the Merseyside officer clocked doing over 150mph on the motorway given a slap on the wrist because ‘he’s a traffic officer and needs to know how to handle powerful cars at high speed.’ By slap on the wrist, I mean no ban and a minimal fine.
One law for the likes of you and I, one law for the plod.
Did you hear about the guy in Fort William a few years ago who got a two year ban and a £150 quid fine for driving an unlicenced ATV for two hundred yards on a public road between two fields?
Of course, the other problem is that there’s no consistency between judges; there used to be a guy in Dingwall Sheriff Court who thought that every case of any form of driving offence that came up before him would get you at least a hundred pounds fine and an eighteen month ban. Can’t remember his name, but he was an old codger in the Eighties so with a little bit of luck he’s at the very least retired by now. Bear in mind the effect a driving ban has on people in a rural area. You need your mates to get you to work. You need mates to get you everywhere. Because if you live somewhere like I grew up, there is a regular bus service. Regular in this case meaning every Monday, Wednesday and Saturday.
