When will women be respected to the point that they will be allowed to do many activities alone which men take for granted?

When will women ever gain the right to walk to the store alone and back without a single sexual advance?

When will women be able to take out their garbage and check their mail without being sexually harassed in their own yard?

When will women ever gain the right to dress however she likes for her own self-gratification only, without being thought to be doing that for men, and without getting raped?

When will women be allowed to be alone and cherish and evening sunset and relax all to themselves? Why can’t a woman go hiking or mountain climbing without fearing rape?

When will women have the right to sleep alone at night without some man busting in and raping her?

Why haven’t women’s rights movements fought for these things? Why are women still seen as useless except as sex-objects, and why is the autonomy of women still ignored?
This question is about women in general, not me. The word “you” that appears in several of the answers is not appropriate. People must be shallow if they think questions others ask are always about themselves. That notion really paints a selfish mindset, doesn’t it?

Men are doing it because they “hate women” according to the local feminists here, so I was just wondering why some women do it and say some of the same things we do.

There are many women that critique feminism and some of them are gaining popularity and exposure. Among them are Christina Hoff Summers, Carrie Lukas, and Wendy McElroy.

When you read the works of the afore mentioned women you get a sense that they are truly interested in equality and the organizations they represent are indeed egalitarian movements.

Some women here deny that feminism has the capability to be anything other than a wondrous “happy place.”

So men critique feminism because they hate women apparently. Do women also hate women when they critique feminism?

One Flaw In Women

Women have strengths that amaze men.
They bear hardships and they carry burdens,
but they hold happiness,
love, and joy.
They smile when they want to scream.
They sing when they want to cry.
They cry when they are happy
and laugh when they are nervous.
They fight for what they believe in.
They stand up to injustice.
They don’t take “no” for an answer
when they believe there is a better solution.
They go without so their family can have.
They go to the doctor with a frightened friend.
They love unconditionally.
They cry when their children excel
and cheer when their friends get awards.
They are happy when they hear about
a birth or a wedding.
Their hearts break when a friend dies.
They grieve at the loss of a family member,
yet they are strong when they think there is no strength left.
They know that a hug and a kiss
can heal a broken heart.
Women come in all shapes, sizes, and colors.
They’ll drive, fly, walk, run, or e-mail you
to show how much they care about you.
The heart of a woman is what makes the world keep turning.
They bring joy, hope and love.
They have compassion and ideals.
They give moral support to their family and friends.
Women have vital things to say and everything to give.

HOWEVER, IF THERE IS ONE FLAW IN WOMEN,
IT IS THAT THEY SOMETIMES FORGET THEIR WORTH.

Thoughts?

I have a nice figure ( but I don’t go overboard) like the girls on Southwest Airlines. However, I feel funny around women who wear the hijab, as if by their presence I am made to feel morally lacking in a group. I feel insulted because I am naturally attractive and I feel that they are trying to force their beliefs (Allah) on me. I think a little fun is okay. I love my freedom to independence, and no matter what women say who wear the hijab, they are giving up a bit of freedom. I love wearing heels on a bright sunny day and wearing my hair down, hanging on my shoulders. Also, as much as a woman who wears the hijab wants to believe she will never experience the wonderful feel of running along the beach with her nice sexy muscled legs, enjoying just breathing and being herself. I know other women will answer this by saying they can run along the beach with a hijab which I feel is BS -never in the same way, it must be stifling-literally and figuratively.

When a man says he wants a housewife and a woman who is passive, he gets attacked by feminists. Yet, women feel they have the right to tell men how they should behave in relationships with women. Why? If men can’t dictate female behavior why should women be able to dictate male behavior?

Like vaginal problems and child birth and all these things women have to see doctors for on a regular basis. What did women do before modern medicine? Somehow they survived.

Because women today are always complaining about that stuff. They have it easy compared to women in the 1700’s and before.

I am female with a joint degree in race relations/womens studies and a CELTA certificate.

I know there are some women who are perpretrators of domestic violence and are very manipulative towards their husbands. A woman wouldn’t go to jail. If it was vice versa, the heat is on.

A woman hits a man, she gets no punishment. I know there are some abusive men who deserve a little more credit because they’re the ones defending themselves. There are cops who arrest women and also deserves a little credit.

In this day and time, how often do women get away with domestic violence and often manipulate their husbands?

I see soo many women backing her because she has the correct anatomy. Obama is a fresh face that can take this country in a new and better direction. Edwards is even a better alternative. I just hope that women will educate consider that just because she is woman she does not deserve your automatic backing.
