Are police officers given a discrimate test before becoming a officer of the people?

I was just wondering this. I live in a small town and the police officers here are really racists. They say they’re not but they are. If your’re riding the wrong vehicle they will be quick to pull you over. Why isn’t there some test that test how discrimate a person is before becoming a police officer?
Sorry about the spelling… Discriminate..I tend to type too fast..haha

Isn’t there a Spelling test YOU have to take before trying to insult Police Officers? It’s spelled “Discriminate” as in a “Discrimination Test” and there is no such thing, but I’ll bet they are no more racist than you are by stereotyping all your town Police Officers. Why don’t you worry a little less about those Awful Meanies and concentrate more on your academic endeavors Sweetie? Who knows, maybe with the right education you could be the next Chief Of Police and change things for the better.

Every area is different but where I live, and I know because I have a few friends who are cops, they do a very extensive background check which includes talking to family and friends. Some of the questions they ask are if you have ever heard or witnessed racist or discriminatory comments or actions by the applicant.

But since police is a local issue, I dont know what your town uses as criteria.

No police officers do not go through a “discrimate” test but they do under go phyciatric counciling to see if they have any problems with people, either by race, sexual orientation, religion, ect. If you really think there is a problem in your town, write out what you believe is the problem and take it to the city hall and give it to the mayor of the town or head of city council. If your town is as small as you say it is, then that shouldn’t be a problem. If that doesn’t work, make an appointment with the chief of police or county sheriff, which ever they are, and take your complaint to them and request that this matter is of great importance and you would like to solve this problem efficiently . You know cops are people too, they have people who piss them off on an everyday basis, they are almost hated by everyone unless you need one, so it’s understandable for officers who have been in for a while to seem hard or rough around the edges. But if the cops your talking about are making derogitory remarks or doing a “Rodney King” on someone, that needs an official complaint. Remember the police are civil servants, that means they work for you…

.If you are innocent you have nothing to be concerned about most of the time. Sorry but you are j udged by who you associate with sometimes…….
Also they cant just pull you over. They are supposed to have probable cause.
you don’t need to be out pass curfew. never put your self in a vulnerable situation. if they are truly doing this get documentation. Go the news paper ; report them to the state police. The FBI
    They have internal investigations.
There are a few crooked cops. In Cocke county Tennessee the Sheriff and some deputies were arrested for criminal activity. The FBI I cleaned that house.
some times I lose sight of that because some of my family and friends are in law enforcement. There are some true blue hero’s in blue and some bad ones too.

It depends on the department. Usually, they have to take a polygraph test where questions range from “Have you ever tried marijuana” to “Are you a member of a white supremacist group?”

I’m on the path of becoming a Chicago police officer. I am African American by race. I don’t know about other cities, but Chicago takes you through taxing psychological tests before they hire you. You interview with higher ranking officers (of all ethnicities) before you are hired. Yes, there are racist cops but in the major cities it is becoming very rare to encounter one. Almost all officers that are out there for a living will tell you that the way people behave themselves in certain communities forces the Officer(s) to enforce the law to the extreme. It’s not racist, it’s a matter of respecting and preserving the law.

Police officers are trained to enforce the law to anyone, regardless of the race, gender and age. I am not sure if they are given orientation on how to deal with specific races because that would also mean racial discrimination. It is just not fair to train a police officer on how to deal differently based on somebody’s race. But definitely, they should not use a person’s race as a basis for enforcing the law or not. Law should apply to everyone or none at all.
